The Wedding Keepsake You Didn’t Know to Ask For
Years from now, you won’t just want to see your wedding. You’ll want to hear it. Your vows in your own voice. The toast that made the whole room cry-laugh. The exact moment the song dropped and the floor filled. Picture fades a little in memory; sound brings it straight back.
Most couples assume the audio side is fully covered by their videographer, and often it is. But sound is captured one source at a time, and even a great video team can run into moments where conditions work against them. That is where having a second, independent source helps.
Where wedding video audio can come up short
Videographers are brilliant at capturing the picture, and many capture excellent audio too, often with their own lav mics and recorders. But any single setup is at the mercy of the moment: wind during an outdoor ceremony, distance from a soft-spoken officiant, room echo, a sudden crowd. On-camera and backup mics do their best, but “their best” during vows can occasionally mean muffled, half-lost, or buried under ambient noise. And by the time you are watching the final film, there is no going back to recapture it.
How a DJ already running the sound complements your video team
Because I am already engineering the audio for your day, running the ceremony mics, the toasts, and the music, I am sitting right at the source. That means I can record clean, board-quality audio of the moments that matter most: your vows, your readings, the speeches, your first dance.
Then I hand those files to your videographer.
It is not about replacing what they capture. It is about giving them options. Sometimes my board feed is simply higher quality, a cleaner version of a moment to mix in. Other times it turns out to be the missing link, the one clean take of a vow or a toast that their own audio did not quite get. At one event a videographer had accidentally left two of their cameras on 240 fps (great slo-motion video) that omits audio all together! But luckily I had everything the needed. Either way, your video team has more to work with, and your film has a better chance of sounding as good as it looks.

This is not a standard line item in the industry, which is exactly why it is worth knowing about. It costs you nothing extra in effort. It is simply a benefit of hiring someone who treats your day’s audio as a craft instead of an afterthought, and who is happy to collaborate with the rest of your vendors. You may just end up, a year later, with something most couples wish they had: a clean record of your wedding’s most important sounds.
