You’re new to this process and that is ok. Lots of people have some fundamental questions and I’m here to answer those.

How much does a Wedding DJ cost?

Prices of course can vary. For a quality wedding DJ with years of experience expect to pay $2500 or more. For reference DJ Lou Paris’ rates start at $4000 for Reception services.

Do you perform for other events than weddings?

Yes, I do. While my primary focus is on weddings I do perform for Birthdays, Corporate Events, or any other function where you desire an uncompromising DJ.

What is your style of MCing?

I would describe my style of MCing as non-hype interaction providing crisp and clear announcements but not letting it dominate the evening. I am not there to hear my own voice or become the center of attention.

What is my style of DJing?

My focus is on the quality of music and service being delivered and to ensure smooth transitions, and an acute focus on the crowd to ensure the right music being played at the right volumes at the right time. How far in advance should we book DJ Lou Paris for our wedding?

Most couples book 12 to 18 months in advance, especially for peak dates between May and October. Booking early ensures availability and gives you access to all planning tools, timeline assistance, and consultations.

Do you provide ceremony audio and microphones?

Yes. Ceremony audio includes a dedicated sound system, discreet lapel microphones for officiants and readers, and optional wireless handheld microphones, ensuring clear audio for all guests. You can read in depth about my Advanced Ceremony Setup here on my DJ Tech blog.

What types of music do you play?

Every playlist is custom-tailored to your preferences. Expect seamless mixing across genres including pop, dance, hip hop, classics, indie, EDM, Motown, rock, and cultural selections. Your do-play and do-not-play lists are always followed.

Do you take requests from guests?

Yes, unless you prefer otherwise. All requests are filtered through your music guidelines to ensure they match your vision and maintain a great dance-floor vibe.

How long is your wedding package?

The Reception package typically covers five (5) hours of performance, Ceremony & Reception Package with six (6) hours. Cocktail, Dinner, and Dance services are all covered in this window of time.

Do you offer planning tools or timeline assistance?

Yes. You’ll have access to a full planning suite including timeline builders, song selection forms, event detail organizers, and personalized support to help design your ideal flow of events.

Are you insured?

Yes. DJ Lou Paris carries full liability insurance, and certificates of insurance (COIs) can be provided directly to your venue upon request.

Do you travel outside of your main region?

Yes. While most weddings take place in the Hudson Valley, Catskills, and Capital Region, travel beyond these areas is available depending on date and availability.

What is required to book?

A signed proposal and retainer are required to reserve your date. The remaining balance is due 30 days before your wedding.

Do I have a backup DJ?

While I don’t have other DJs under my business, if for some reason I am unable to perform on the day of your event, I will ensure a high-quality wedding DJ will be in place for you.

Do You Have Backup Equipment?

Yes, I do. Having a backup is critical to ensure that your event has no unplanned interruptions. As part of my career background I’ve worked in IT with a big focus on disaster and backup solutions, literally writing the book for some businesses on their backup strategies.

Do we meet face-to-face, Email, Phone, Zoom?

The answer is yes (to all four). I will work with you on whichever method you are most comfortable with. I will send you a synopsis of our discussions via email to make sure we are on the same page.
