Spillian is not a banquet hall, and it should never sound like one. It is a restored Victorian mountain mansion in Fleischmanns, the kind of place couples find on a whim and fall in love with at first sight. Weddings here tend to be intimate, a little artistic, and full of people who actually care about the music. That is squarely my kind of place.
The vibe is different than most. Most couples choose an all outdoors experience (while they can accommodate inside the house as an alternative). You dine in the outdoors near the fire pit that is lit after sunset (or on those chilly unpredictable days). The canopy of trees, lit from within, gives the space something truly unique and ‘down to earth’ in the most literal sense.
Spillian rewards a DJ who can read a smaller, eclectic crowd and move through genres without breaking the spell. The couples who marry here usually have wide-ranging, personal taste, and that is exactly what I love to work with. I am not there to play the same fifteen wedding songs you have heard at every reception. I am there to build something that sounds like you.
Practically, the gorgeous outdoor and reception space has some technical challenges to consider. For instance, the cocktail hour is held up the hill by the mansion while most of the other festivities are down below, and all outdoors. So this means knowing how to work around the elements and also broadcast music up to 400′ away, which I am fortunate to be able to provide.
From the day you book me I become your advocate through the whole process. We will talk early and often, work through every detail at your pace, and make sure that by the time you arrive at Spillian, all you have to do is be present for it. That is the whole job.
Do you know Spillian and the Fleischmanns area? Yes. Spillian is one of the standout Catskills venues I love working in, and I also regularly perform across Delaware, Greene, Sullivan, and Ulster counties.
Do you charge a travel fee to Spillian? Fleischmanns sits toward the western edge of my Catskills range, but it still is in my no-charge travel zone.
Can you handle both an outdoor ceremony and an indoor reception at Spillian? Absolutely. The tech I bring allows me to cover all the bases, including the plan B, plan C, and even plan D situations. You can check my TikTok for a storytime I did on one of the more extreme situations.
Will you work with our eclectic, non-traditional music taste? That is my favorite kind of wedding. I curate live and move across genres on the fly, so a wide-ranging, personal soundtrack is the norm for me, not the exception.
